Desmond Cup Qtr Final

Charleville 3-0 Breska Rovers

Hard luck to our ladies who were looking to continue where they left off after the win in Abbeyfeale last weekend, But it wasn’t to be, crashing to a 3-0 defeat in Cork on Sunday afternoon.

Breska Rovers A 4-0 Newcastle West Town Reserves

Our A team made it six league wins on the trot with a fantastic 4-0 victory over third placed Newcastle West Town Reserves.

Leading 2-0 at half time, thanks to goals from Niall Quane and David Lowe. We stood firm in the second half and were able to add our first home clean sheet of the season, after shutouts away to Creeves Celtic, Kildimo United and Pallaskenry.

Josh Fitzgerald scored early into the second period while young winger Ethan Keyes rounded off the scoring with a low finish late on.  The victory pushes us clear of St. Ita’s with 1/3 of the league games played.

Team: James Purcell (capt); Diarmuid O’Connor, Conor McCarthy, Sean Healy, Ross Griffin; Josh Fitzgerald, Kevin Foster, TJ O’Connor, Ethan Keyes; Niall Quane, David Lowe

Subs: Ian O’Leary for Quane (62 mins); Robert O’Grady for Lowe (80 mins); Ger Mullins for Fitzgerald (84 mins)

Glin Rovers B 4-2 Breska Rovers B

Our B team were looking to make it three games unbeaten against Glin Rovers. Having fallen behind early on, we dominated the next period of game, but to little reward. However, more efforts on the home goal eventually saw us score. Leonard Coughlan won the ball in a left-wing position and played a long ball over the top. Dylan Kelly showed composure to finish right-footed from the edge of the area.

The second goal came soon after. Josh Moloney drew a save from the legs of the home keeper and Jack Moroney powered the rebound goalward. Coughlan, marginally onside, applied the slightest of touches to make it 2-1 at the break.

A disastrous second half saw Glin on top. They equalised on the counter attack and that was also the method of their lead goal, late on, which made it 3-2. The concession of a penalty in stoppage time compounded the result and it finished 4-2, which sees us drop below Glin in the table.

Team: Seamus Lyons; Ben Adams, Josh Adams, Ivan Coughlan, Tom Clancy; Keith Punch, Jack Moroney, Ross Kenny (capt), Josh Moloney; Leonard Coughlan, Dylan Kelly

Subs: Dean Garvey for Moloney, Dara Punch for Clancy, Tommy Collery for B. Adams, Sean Gormley for K. Punch
