Creeves Celtic win 5-4 on penalties, after extra-time.

Breska Rovers suffered the narrowest of defeats on peanalties as familiar foes Creeves Celtic advanced to the next round of this provincial competition. It was a game played with decent tempo and both sides had opportunities to win it in the 90 minutes.
Level 0-0 at half-time, Breska came closest when Tom Clancy fired wide having raced beyond the visiting defence.
Creeves struck the front when a right wing cross was finished well from close range. The reply was immediate. Tom Clancy slipped in youngster Mark Moroney who saw his shot well saved before Josh Fitzgerald marked his half-time introduction with a tidy finish from close range. Creeves would hit the front again as their striker drilled home from the edge of the area. But our reply was even quicker. Kevin Foster, who moved from defence to midfield, played a one-two with Clancy and Foster went all the way to the box before centering for Niall Quane who made no mistake for 2-2.
In extra-time, Breska struck the front with around five minutes remaining. The tireless Mark Moroney whipped a wonderful ball which Fitzgerald steered home with a diving header. Creeves would equalise with one of the last notable attacks, turning in a rebound, after a good save from James Purcell.
Penalties scored from James Purcell, Niall Quane, Mark Moroney and Josh Moloney.

Ladies:
Breska Rovers A 1-3 Abbeyfeale United
Premier Division League Cup – Group Stage
Breska Rovers Ladies ‘A’ started their season with a clash at home to Abbeyfeale United. Despite a stunning long-range free-kick from joint-captain Hazel O’Connor, old rivals Abbeyfeale left Clarina with the win. There is a long season ahead as we hope to close the gap on defending treble champions, Abbeyfeale.
Breska Rovers Ladies ‘B’s game with Feenagh was postponed due to the unavailability of a match official.
