Weekly Club notes 1st September

U10 girls: The U10 girls enjoyed a goal fest away Shountrade last Thursday. An entertaining game was end-to-end throughout with plenty of good attacking play on display from both sides.

U12B:
Breska Rovers u12Bs made it 2 wins in 2 on the road after following up the win in Ballingarry with a 6-0 win in Abbeyfeale.

Timmy McCormack scored the only goal of the first half inside the first 5 minutes.

Second half, the goals flowed in with McCormack adding a 2nd before Mark Sheehan hit a 15 minute hat-trick with 3 well taken goals any striker would be proud of. Finally Max White who captained the side today made it six to round off the win in style. A great team performance was rewarded with a deserved victory.

The win means we go joint 2nd with Abbeyfeale opponents as we enter the final few weeks of the season.

Abbeyfeale B 0-6 Breska Rovers B
Goals: Mark Sheehan x 3, Timmy McCormack x 2, Max White.

Team: Alex Smith, Charlie Hannan, Rory Foley, John Ross O Reilly, James Byrnes, Max White(c), Mark Sheehan, Daniel McNamara, Timmy McCormack, Jake Grace, Liam O’Connell, Oscar Goodwin.

U16:

Our U16’s were back in action on Sunday, and despite playing with many players who are well below the age, they battled on and secured a 5-5 draw. An exciting game throughout saw Sean McGrath (3), Sean Coughlan and Darragh Harrington all on target. At the time of writing, our next outing is against Feenagh, fixture details to be confirmed.

Junior:
Creeves Celtic 0-2 Breska Rovers

Our junior team returned to competitive action last weekend and also started the season with a fine win over Creeves. Having lost on the opening day last season, it was important to recognise the need for a good start. And, fresh with a superb looking new kit, sponsored by BHP, we were deserving winners, this despite finishing with 10 men.

Niall Quane opened his account with a free-kick in the first few minutes. Sean Healy would add a second late in the game to kill off the Creeves challenge. Next up is a Munster Junior Cup tie in Ashford, against St Ita’s – who like Creeves, were promoted from division two.

Breska Rovers: James Purcell; Diarmuid O’Connor, James Kennedy, Conor McCarthy, Nigel Mann; Robert O’Grady, Nathan Sheehan, Sean Healy, TJ O’Connor, Josh Fitzgerald; Niall Quane

Subs: David Fitzgerald for Nigel Mann, Ger Mullins for Robert O’Grady

Carrig Celtic B 3-4 Breska Rovers B

Our B team opened their campaign with a hard fought 4-3 win over Creeves. The game proved to be an entertaining affair, despite the constant mist in Carrickerry. Having led 1-0 through Ethan Keyes after a lovely Jack Moroney assist, Carrig hit twice in five minutes to lead at the break.

Keyes would hit the bar twice, once either side of the interval, before we would equalise. A Declan Normoyle pass was finished by Leonard Coughlan after good work by Josh Moloney.

Evergreen Coughlan showed his class to add two more to complete his hat-trick before Carrig pulled a goal back with the last action of the game.

Breska Rovers: Seamie Lyons; Ben Adams, Tommy Collery, Declan Normoyle (c), Sean Gormley; Keith Punch, Tom Clancy, Jack Moroney, Ethan Keyes; Leonard Coughlan, Josh Moloney

Subs: Dylan Kelly for Jack Moroney, Orin Garvey for Josh Moloney
