There was a stark contrast between our u14s & our u16s matches this week in the Limerick Desmond Schoolboys/girls league.

U14s: Askeaton 6-1 Breska Rovers

Our young U14s were beat 6-1 in Askeaton. Although we went toe to toe with them up until 5 minutes before the break when Askeaton broke the deadlock, Breska should have been ahead after squandering 2 or 3 guilt edge chances earlier in the match. After the break the stark contrast in strength between the two teams began to show as Askeaton scored a further 5 goals without reply, Although the one bright spark was a 2nd goal in as many games for young Alex Smith who had previously scored in an u12 game. Our team can be proud of their first half performance, although work to be done.

U16s Kildimo 4-4 Breska Rovers

Our u16 team kicked off their season with a fightback performance at local rivals Kildimo. Kildimo raced into a 3-0 lead in the first 30 minutes, however Breska grew into the game. In the 32nd minute the game changed drastically when Darragh O’Sullivan headed passed the Kildimo keeper from a corner, 5 minutes later Breska repeated the trick, Sean Coughlan heading in from a 2nd corner. 5 minutes before the break new signing Sohayb Essefiani latched onto a through ball after a mistake by Kildimo to slot passed the on rushing keeper, 3-3 at the break and we could catch our breath. After the restart Kildimo got a 4th goal however the scoring wasn’t done there, Sohayb adding his 2nd to make it 4-4, there were more chances in the last quarter but it ended 4-4. A fantastic result for our u16s in their first outing.
