U15 Cup Semi Final Result

Breska Rovers B 2-2 Ballingarry AET

Goal: Darragh Taylor, Timmy McCormack

Breska win 6-5 on penalties in Sudden Death

A Red Letter day today in Breska Rovers as our u14/U15B team reached the U15 Desmond Cup Final beating a resilient Ballingarry side on penalties in sudden death 6-5 after 2 goals for each side in normal time.

It was the visitors who hit the front inside ten minutes when a shot turned cross founds it way to Ballingarry’s Billy Bernie who poked home passed Alex Smith in goal for Breska. We then weathered the storm with some solid defending from our back line of Rory Foley, John Ross O Reilly, Charlie Hannan & Jake Grace.

Half time 0-1.

Disaster struck in the second half when a long ball from Ballingarry found its way through to Bernie again for him to make it two nil to the visitors. The clock was ticking on our cup campaign. On fifty four minutes we pulled a goal back, and it was our midfield general Darragh Taylor who fired into the roof of the net from the edge of the box after a few failed attempts to clear it from the visitors.

It was only seven minutes later when a Max White corner was flicked on by Taylor to reliable striker Timmy McCormack who fired to the back of the net to cue jubilant celebrations from the home crowd.

It was then an ET full of a lot of scrappy half chances, but our defence stood strong and it was onto penalties that would decide the game.

It was to the joy of the home side that the penalty lottery was won by Breska, with goalkeeper Alex Smith saving two and scoring one himself along with Shane Dillon, Timmy McCormack, Rory Foley, Max White and last but not least James Byrnes who would eventually convert our 8th penalty to send us to the u15 Desmond Cup Final.

A special mention to the 8 young players who took penalties today its not easy and takes great courage whether it results in a goal or not!

Thanks as always to our fantastic home support who drove on the team! Thanks also to referee Eugene Noonan who reffed today, he is pictured below with Breska captain Max White and Ballingarry captain.
